Born Of Fire Channeler Series eBook Heather McCorkle
This is a very short introduction to the Channeler series, but it packs a lot of action and necessary scenes to make the reader understand where the Channeler's main character Aiden is coming from. Aiden's parents Kevan and Shannon thought they were safe in Colorado from the Hunters that are after them. But it's not that easy to keep away from forces that are hungry for power- especially for a rare power that their yet unborn son Aiden has. A prophecy of doom marks Aiden as a key to salvation, and there are those who will do everything to have control over him. It ends sadly for Kevan and Shannon, but Aiden's struggles has just begun.Tags : Born Of Fire (Channeler Series) - Kindle edition by Heather McCorkle. Born Of Fire Channeler Series eBook Heather McCorkle Reviews
This was a fun, action-packed look into Aiden's birth and a dream sequence from his teens years. There were a couple editing oopsies but nothing that stopped the story. I would love to give less stars for being so short. I wanted more. I love Aiden in Heather McCorkle's Channeler series. As I say all this I realize that his life might not be easy to write about as his home-life isn't much of one. Dreaming might be better than the reality in his case. I think this should be added to the larger books to give us more perspective while in the story. It had been a while for me since I read the books (The Secret Of Spruce Knoll A Channeler Novel and Channeler's Choice (A Channeler Novel)). I actually had to look them up to get perspective. Even still, it was almost as good as a cup of coffee to wake up to this morning.
I was exposed to Heather's writing with her short Story in Winter Wonders Anthology, so I went looking for her other books, and lo and behold, Born Of Fire which is the prequel to her Channeler series was free on ! I snatched it up and read it in one sitting.
s blurb about the book
The story of the night Aiden was born has never been told, until now. Fleeing the Hunter's, Kevan and Shannon O'Reilly find their way to Spruce Knoll Colorado, assuming they'll be safe in America. Their unborn son is special, even for a druid, or channeler as the American's like to call their kind. But why the Hunter's, people who are sworn to keep their kind safe, are after them is a mystery. All they know is that if they don't outrun them they'll be killed.
Trouble has followed them to Spruce Knoll and just when it seems it may be too late, they discover why.
My thoughts
I must say I have rarely read prequels before the actual story as usually there is a lot of history with the characters. However, this short was easy to get into and understand and I was hooked from the beginning because practically the whole novella was action packed! Seeing the warrior druids (Channelers) in action and some of their powers displayed really piqued my curiosity-it made me want to know more about how the Channelers came to be and exactly what they do. Kevan and Shannon were certainly powerful, but Aiden seems like he is really something special! The Hunters seem powerful in their way too and I'd like to know just why they track down the Channelers and destroy them-especially with such a prophecy as is mentioned about Aiden?
So many questions!!I can't wait to dive into the first novel of the series and find out what happens!!

Starts off intriguing, and spirals out of control. Needed to be more in depth. What happened after Aidens parents were killed? This jumps around and is confusing before it even gets going good. Not my cup of tea! I want a story to grab me and make me not put it down, bc I am so into finding out more.....this didn't come close, am glad it was a free read!
I picked up this little beauty for free and I'm SO glad I did!

I just finished To Ride a Puca last week and loved it. So I thought I would throw myself into this novella last night to get a taste of what the other Channeler novels are like and, WOW, I am so glad I did. I loved this short look into the channelers! It totally made me want to pick up the next one in the series. There was just not enough to this novella and it has me biting at the bit to see what happens next!
The cover to this little beauty is AMAZING! I knew the story of the knot from Puca, so when I picked this up, I completely understood why it would be on the cover. I am still interested to know what exactly the knot signifies.
The introduction of Adien and his birth was great. Although, I am sure had I not read To Ride A Puca, I would not have understood so well what was happening as far as their powers were concerned. I am in love with the fantasy theme of these books!
Thanks for peaking my interest even more, Ms. McCorkle! Your writing is awesome and I can't wait to find out more about Aiden!!!
5 out of 5 Stars
This novels was great... I would rate it higher except there are no follow yours and it definitely leaves you the reader in a place of wondering & readiness too red the book. More like a prequel than a Novella disappointing to learn this was it, and I would not be learning what happened- & if I do, it will be in teeny tiny snippets like this one. Great storyline, interesting plot, began to develop characters then... Slam. No more. THAT us too bad. We could use more books with different styles & takes rather than traditional fantasy or glittery vampires.
Good little intro to an awesome series that is full of mystery, adventure, and love. Highly reccomend you check out the whole series.
